THE BLADE:

-Made from 1084 carbon steel (only carbon and iron are used to make this steel)

-1 off profile, freehand ground on all American made 2×72 grinders with USA and German made belts

-Individualy heat treated with love in a computer controlled USA made kiln

-Sharpened with German/USA/Japanese made abrasives and finished on 1 micron diamond treated USA leather

-Hand painted mustard based (food safe) patina for added protection

THE HANDLE:

-Modern micarta (phenolic cloth)

-All freehand shaped, flared octagonal design

-Phenolic spacers, manually milled and hand fit

-Wa style construction, pressure fit wooden dowell underneath the solid (not split) micarta with a aditional brass pin for extra security

-Every seam/layer has been coated internally with G-FLEX water proof epoxy (used in sailboat/marine construction and repair)

-The surface of the handle has been sanded to 1200 grit, with no coating of any kind to rub off or wear down, extremely easy maintenance for a lifetime of use.

KNIFE MAINTENANCE:

-Treat the blade exactly like you would treat a cast iron skillet: rinse, dry immediately and apply a small amount of mineral oil to coat the blade. Its a good idea to coat the handle with a bit of oil once in while as well. Thats it. These knives will take on a look of their own and reflect the love and use you give them. Consider it living steel and look forward to the story they will tell. This steel loves to be honed rather than sharpened and responds beautifully to leather and high grit ceramic as well as water or oil stones.
