Woods: Cherry, Walnut and Maple

Approximately: 17" x 12.5"

This end-grain cutting board, hand-made near St. Louis, MO, uses sustainable local wood, which is adhered with FDA approved wood glue.  It is finished with a food grade mineral oil and beeswax blend, saturated into the wood, and will provide many years of use with regular care and maintenance.  Additionally, this board has a unique feature which we have not seen in other cutting boards.  One side of the board has been sculpted to allow for easy transfer of prepped food to a waiting plate.  A great feature for the serious foodie/chef.  Finally, the board has clear Polyurethane non-marking feet to reduce board movement and to provide a drying air space between the board and your countertop.  In short, every effort has been made to create a kitchen tool that is meant to be functional, yet retain its’ beauty and artistic qualities for years to come.

  • Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Doug Edmondson started his artistic career aboard the submarine, USS James K. Polk.  Among his many duties he photographed shorelines for the US Navy SEALs, earning numerous service awards.  After fulfilling his duty to his country, Doug fine-tuned his artistic abilities in the field of commercial photography.  While designing and building sets for his studio, he discovered his love for working with wood.  When the company closed, he brought his talent for set and prop design to clients in need of the same precision skills.  In time, he took his new found passion into wood sculpting and mosaics.  These days, Doug displays his talents in a portfolio ranging from hand-carved tables to free standing sculptures, and a well-refined use of wood as mosaic, creating the most beautiful cutting boards we have ever coveted! His work can be seen in such places as Macy’s at Harold Square in New York City and at NHB KnifeWorks!  We're in good company!
