Mel Taber is a self-taught woodworker and wood turner from DeRuyter, New York. He started making cutting boards and wooden toys some forty-years ago while still working as a physical education teacher. Over the years Mel's interest in and woodworking skills progressed to include creating beautiful turned burl bowls, live-edge bowls and platters, hand-turned bottle-stops and wooden boxes. We first saw Mel's unique work at Gallery 3040, a fine art gallery in one of our favorite places, the town of Old Forge, in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. We loved Mel's work so much, we bought out his entire inventory! Mel's now lives in Syracuse, NY with his lovely bride, Sue.
